Our students have been working hard all year long to grow his/her brain and to master some challenging math skills. To assess these skills our class will be taking a math test during the week of May 18-22. You can help your student practice and prepare at home by reviewing the skills below.

In the math packet sent home today are math activities you and your students can complete at home to review the skills above . Please call/email/text if you have any questions.

Buenas tardes padres de familia,

Queremos saludarlos y darles las gracias por ser tan amables y generosos al mandar detalles con sus hijos. Son más que apreciados y nos hacen sentir queridos. Estámos tan contentos de tener a sus hijos, de crecer y aprender con ellos. Esta semana ha estado llena de sorpresas que nos hacen sentir muy valorados, y es gracias a ustedes y sus hijos.

Las siguientes semanas, vamos a estás administrando los exámenes de lectura llamados STEP. Es la última vez que lo hacemos en el año, y estámos ansiosos de ver su crecimiento. Por favor sigan practicando la lectura con ellos, y después de leer, haganles preguntas sobre el texto. Por ejemplo, ¿qué pasó primero? ¿Cuántas palabras hay en la página? ¿Qué pasó después de…? Estas preguntas les ayuda a pensar en el texto, inferir sobre la historia y posibles razónes sobre el significado.

Dear parents,

We want to give thanks to all of you for being so kind and generous by sending amazing gifts to us. We are more than grateful, and feel very happy and loved. We are more than thankful for having your children, for growing and learning with them. This week has been full or wonderful surprises, we definitely feel valued, all thanks to you!

The folowwinf weeks, we will be testing on STEP. This is the last time we will test in the year and we are very excited to see what they have learned. So please keep reading with your kids, and after you finish reading, ask them questions. What happened first? How many words on this page? What happened after? These question push them think about the text, infer about the story and demonstrate higher thinking about its meaning.

Hello Wonderful parents!

 

 

We are entering in to the home stretch of the school year. We have been so impressed with student growth thus far and are thrilled to see how much growth students have made from the beginning of the year to the end of the year!

Right now our focus value is curiosity! We have seen so many kiddos asking lots of questions in their learning, showing how invested they are in academics, and they have been making new friends by asking questions. This focus value has really brought our students deeper into content and has allowed them to take ownership of their learning!

In two weeks we will begin our math assessments for the end of the year. Please continue looking over math quizzes that come home to see what  skills kiddos are having challenges with so you know what to practice Also, congratulate your kiddos on how amazing they have been doing and how much growth they have made!  This class of mathematicians is brilliant!

May 10^th we will begin our reading assessments’. Please keep reading with your kiddos and signing their reading logs so that they are getting a great deal of practice to make them very confident readers. Below are some cool videos and resources to practice phonics skills to support student reading. We look forward to seeing how much more growth our kiddos have made in Quarter 4!

Queridos padres,

Estámos llegando al final del año. Estámos tan impresionados y emocionados con el crecimiento que han hecho nuestros estudiantes.

Hoy nuestro enfoque es la curiosidad. Hemos visto tantos estudiantes haciendo preguntas en su aprendizaje, demostrando su interés en lo academic, y han estado haciendo nuevos amigos por medio de preguntas. El valor ha llevado a nuestros estudiantes hacia un contenido nuevo donde los permite adueñarse de su aprendizaje.

En dos semanas empezarémos los exámenes de matemáticas. Por favor continuen repasando los ejercicios que se mandan a casa para revisar las areas de crecimiento . También feliciten a sus hijos en su desarrollo y lo mucho que han aprendido. ¡Ésta clase es brillante!

El 10 de Mayo empezarán los exámenes de lectura. Sigan leyendo con sus hijos para que practiquen las diferentes areas y se sientan confiados. Abajo hay videos muy divertidos para practicar areas de fonética. ¡Ya queremos ver que tanto han crecido en el 4to cuatrimestre!

El miércoles empezarémos los nuevos grupos de los clubs, donde nuestros estudiantes podrán aprender y practicar nuevas actividades. ¡También será el día del espacio, asi que ayuden a sus astronautas y viajeros del tiempo a diseñar su traje!

El 10 de Mayo también será la semana que empezarémos los exámenes de STEP. Es muy importante que sigan leyendo con sus hijos e hijas para asegurar el crecimiento en la lectura.

Wednesday we will begin our new club groups, where our students will learn and practice new activities. It will also be space-day. So gear up your astronaut or time-traveler and help them design a space suit!

May 10^th will also be the beginning of our STEP window. It is very important to keep reading with your children to ensure practice and growth.

We have had such a fun week with our field trip to Crowes nest! Students have been very invested in their learning and have been showing a great deal of curiosity! This was a perfect field lesson that allowed students to really tap into that curious side and it invested them in asking many questions about the animals we were so lucky to see!

 

We need your help! Towards the end of the year we begin to run low on our school supplies. We are need of a few items…

Tuvimos una semana muy divertida con nuestra excursión a la granja. Los estudiantes han estado trabajando y aprendiendo con mucha curiosidad. El paseo fue un gran momento para explorar y aprender sobre los temas que hemos estado viendo, y para hacer preguntas.

We want to thank you for all the support you give your kiddos! Please look for and celebrate growth shared on report cards this week. Please note that if there is not a reading score yet it is because we have not completed all reading testing yet. We will get those results to you as soon as we finish literacy assesments.

Next week we will be celebrating completing our 100 book log! The celebration will be Friday 4/10 so please finish those logs over the weekend and send them in with your kiddo by Wednesday 4/8 so that they can be a part of the 100 reading log picnic!

Los estudiantes han estado haciendo un fantastico trabajo en sus exámenes. La siguiente semana estarémos dando premios a los estudiantes que han crecido en Matemáticas y que tienen calificaciónes arriba del 90%.
